Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas has warned fans of the risks of plastic surgery after having an operation to remove her breast implants amid fears they could be harmful to her health.

59-year-old Shirley underwent the four-and-a-half hour operation to remove her DD implants following a cancer scare and has gone back to her natural A cup, revealing she’s finally begun to accept her natural body shape for the first time.

“When I saw my little boobies, I thought, ‘There she is’,” she told The Sun.

“They’re lovely. They’re all a bit swollen but I’m pleased with the breast lift he gave me. And now I’m in the process of learning to love myself after all those years.”

Admitting she said: “I’m glad they’re gone,” when she looked in the mirror for the first time after her operation, Shirley added: “If I could go back to my younger self, I would never have had the implants done. I feel relieved and I feel proud for removing them now.”

The Strictly star urged fans to fully consider the risks before going under the knife, confessing that she hadn’t done any research before deciding to get implants.

She said: “Do your research about the implants. I did not do mine. I thought if I put them in I’d look better and my husband would think of me as more desirable.

“I made this choice many years ago not understanding what I was really doing, except telling myself I didn’t look good enough.

“For young women, if someone is making you feel bad about yourself, talk to someone. But don’t do what I did. You can’t make somebody love you, no matter what you do to yourself.”

It’s been a tough few weeks for Shirley, who received death threats from Strictly fans after making the controversial decision to eliminate radio DJ Dev Griffin from the competition.

She shared a video of herself hooked up to an intravenous drip after falling ill and admitted it had been a ‘tough week’.

Dev’s dance partner Dianne Buswell then came to the defence of the judge, begging fans to stop sending her abuse.

Dianne said: “Guys this is terrible you can not be bullying like this. It’s awful and really upsets me to hear this. It’s simply not ok and should never happen!”
