Despite their reunion in Paris, an insider says the feud between Victoria Beckham and daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz is far from over

Following months of rumours that Victoria Beckham had become completely estranged from her eldest son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham following a disagreement on their wedding day in May, the feuding family reunited at Paris Fashion Week last month.

The couple were then seen hugging all of the family affectionately as they celebrated with Victoria, 48, who emotionally burst into tears at the end of the show – later posting a picture of Brooklyn and Nicola on Instagram with the caption, “I love you all so much”.

But now an insider reveals that rather than ending their feud, tensions are still raging between Nicola and her mother-in-law, who have seemingly butted heads over how Nicola has been presenting herself as the new Mrs Beckham.

A source says, “Brooklyn and Nicola do feel like they’re the 'it’ couple of the moment – on the covers of magazines, and at all the major events. She was in her absolute element at Paris Fashion Week, doing interviews and basking in the limelight – with Brooklyn proudly watching on. They are like a young Posh and Becks and are pretty untouchable.

“Nicola loves being the new Mrs Beckham, and in ways she is emulating Posh. She’s loving grabbing the headlines and the pros that come from having the famous surname. She’s also loving the fashion links that have come with it and is constantly keeping her style fresh and up with the trends. She’s even been changing her hair, much like Posh used to.

“But at the same time, Nicola wants to do things her own way and doesn’t want to be guided by Vic. She has ideas of her own when it comes to what she and Brooklyn should be doing with their careers."

Posh and Nicola are thought to have fallen out in the lead-up to the wedding, when Nicola claims she was blanked for weeks before Victoria claimed her atelier was unable to design her wedding dress.

There were later reports that Victoria hijacked the couple’s first dance as a “mother-and-son” moment after singer Marc Anthony made a wrongly-timed, gushing speech about her, which allegedly saw Nicola “storm out” of her own wedding reception.

Now, Nicola has wasted no time in getting her own back and making herself and Brooklyn the centre of attention – showing off her new brunette look at Paris Fashion Week, schmoozing with the media, and gracing several magazine covers.

Fans have commented on how Nicola has started to morph into her mother-in-law with her new "posh" look, while her and Brooklyn's branding has been called "the Posh and Becks revival".

But the source says Nicole has no intention of following in anyone’s footsteps, and that Victoria has finally met her match.

They add, “She and Vic are similar, but in some ways they are completely different. Nicola has been raised as a billionaire’s daughter – she won’t bow down to anyone. Nicola doesn’t want Victoria mentoring her and has her own ideas.

“Victoria has been the bigger person in an effort to play nice – but she’s still seething with anger over the way Nicola acts like an entitled princess and there is no love lost between the pair.”

And just last month Brooklyn confirmed his loyalty to Nicola when he commented on her fallout with Posh over her wedding dress, saying, “My wife is obviously my first priority and I never want to see her upset. We have each other’s back 100 per cent.”

However, for the sake of their husbands, the insider says Nicola and Victoria have come to an unspoken truce to keep the peace.

“Both Nicola and Victoria agree it’s best to keep it all private and hidden away to avoid adding more fuel to the fire. They want to make it seem like all is OK so that Brooklyn and David don’t get cross with them and force them to chat.

“Victoria has come to accept the situation, but it doesn’t mean she’s not upset at losing Brooklyn.”
