Love Island 2018 star Megan Barton-Hanson has opened up about a romantic holiday that left her "hating" an unnamed partner.
And, now we've said that, we can gently remind you that two of Megan's exes are of course Love Island's Wes Nelson and TOWIE's James Lock (also know as 'Lockie').
Megan and Lockie met while they were filming MTV show Ex On The Beach and were first spotted together in October 2021 when they were photographed "all over each other" at Mayfair’s Amazonico restaurant. They soon went red-carpet official at the Gay Times Awards, which was followed by the pair sharing loved-up snaps and exchanging flirty comments on Instagram.
However, the pair ended their whirlwind two-month-long romance just before Christmas following a trip to New York, with reports suggesting that they had started to argue. Megan then proceeded to delete all traces of Lockie from her Instagram and even unfollowed him.
Fast-forward to today and we have another update (not that we're assuming she's talking about Lockie, of course), courtesy of a detailed VICE post written by Meghan (she is the publication's "resident sex, relationships and all things horny columnist"). She titles the post, "How to Go on a Romantic Getaway Without Hating Each Other."
We'll say this one more time before we get into this: Meghan does not mention any former partner directly in this piece, so make of the story what you will.
We will, however, remind of you that trip to NYC Megan and Lockie took together just before their romantic demise...
Megan wrote, "The most recent time I went away with someone, I came back and thought '...You’re not for me’. He just didn’t plan anything, and when it came to doing things every day he wasn’t booking anything either, so we just spent days bar-crawling and doing one touristy thing. I’m quite unorganised too, but I’d planned for us to go and see a basketball game and go on a helicopter ride, and I really wanted to do loads of tacky touristy stuff, but he had other ideas! He was like, 'Oh, can you be bothered to travel 40 minutes in a cab to get a helicopter?' And I was like… 'yes, of course!' But he’d rather go to the same cocktail bar that we've been in once already."
When talking about sharing a bathroom with a man on holiday she wrote, "Men will go to the toilet and not flush the toilet, for example. Like, just because we’re at the level of going on holiday together that doesn't mean that I'm fully invested in you and I won't leave you if you’re a gross slob! Brush your teeth and get the sleep out of your eye before morning sex, flush the toilet and don't piss on the toilet seat, OK?"
Then, of course, there was THIS comment, "When you go away with someone you want to be with each other and you want to make memories, but you have to be present in the moment to do that. I've been with some partners who are more fussed with how their holiday is looking to their Instagram followers and it’s a bit like…who are you here for? Yourself, because you actually want to be here? Because you want to piss off an ex? Or keep up appearances and act like you're living a bougie lifestyle?"
In a Instagram Q&A session over the festive period, Megan was asked the reasons why the pair had called it a day and answered that things just "didn’t work out between them".
She then jokingly added, "He made a stunning Richard Gere for Halloween though."
The pair briefly got back together in March 2022 (Lockie famously gave Megan a cake shaped like her boobs for her birthday around this time) before appearing to call it quits once again. James recently said that him and Megan were friends and the pair were even spotted at a film screening in London together in June.
