They delighted their combined 9.3 million Instagram followers last month with the exciting news that they are expecting a baby. And as TOWIE's Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan prepare for their new arrival, insiders tell Closer that the famous couple have been offered a lucrative TV opportunity to capture their journey to becoming first-time parents.
But the source reveals that Mark, 38, and Michelle, 37, have different stances on it at present, saying, ‘Michelle is feeling really torn about letting cameras in her home as she prepares to become a mother, as she feels like they should hold some things back for themselves. She sees herself as an actress and, in her mind, this is a step into reality TV which she has turned her nose up at in the past, despite it being where Mark got his career going.
‘But Mark has been urging Michelle to think about it and said she could be more involved in making it a series about motherhood rather than it being classed as reality television like TOWIE.’
A series on parenthood would not be Mark’s first foray in reality TV, as he shot to fame on TOWIE in 2010 alongside the likes of ex-girlfriend Lauren Goodger and best friend James ‘Arg’ Argent. Meanwhile, Michelle’s roots lie in acting, having started out as a soap star in Coronation Street, before claiming roles in series such as Our Girl, Brassic and Netflix’s Fool Me Once.
The power pair – who wed in 2015 after meeting three years prior – have built an incredible empire, which includes a jaw-dropping £3.5 million mansion in Essex. They purchased the property in 2020 and transformed it into their dream home, regularly sharing renovation updates on social media.
And now, after they revealed Michelle’s pregnancy on Instagram with the caption, ‘2025 is going to be a special one for us’, the insider teases that their opulent home might not only be where they’ll be raising their child, but making their next career move as a duo.
The source says, ‘Mark and Michelle are a TV power couple, and getting them to open up their lives like this would be a huge coup for any channel. The money they’re being offered for this is in the millions – so Mark doesn’t think they should be saying no or immediately turning it down. It’s a slightly awkward conversation for them as Mark is no stranger to reality TV cameras, whereas Michelle has always been a lot more private and serious about her acting. She doesn’t want a reality show to affect the roles she might be offered in the future.’
The source adds, ‘But Michelle has been sharing more of herself on Instagram and having a lot of fun with that, so she has been thinking about a way she could do something a bit more stylish and tasteful. She does acknowledge that if the show could be done in a cool way, then she wouldn’t rule it out.’
