Liam Payne has revealed the inspiration behind baby Bear's unusual name - and it actually makes sense.

Speaking to James Corden on The Late Late Show last night, the former One Directioner finally opened up about how he and Cheryl decided on Bear's name.

And the reason is actually really cute...

Speaking to James and his guests, Jim Gaffigan and Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, he revealed that Bear's name was actually inspired by the fact he kept growling all the time after he was born.

He explained: "You know what? When he was born, I think one of the midwives said it, he actually has this thing where if they don't have a good cry, they get fluid on their lungs which is quite serious.

"So he was going 'grrr', growling away when he was sleeping, so I had specialists running in and out of the hospital while my missis was asleep and he was being checked over, and they were like, 'Oh, I'm not really sure, we'll get someone else in'.

"And I had like, ten doctors coming in the room and in the end, one guy was like, 'Dude I'm not being funny, there's nothing wrong with him – just likes to make a lot of noise.

"And that's carried on ever since – so he just became Bear."

Liam also made another revelation about Bear this week, when he admitted (to the envy of parents everywhere) that he sleeps for ELEVEN hours a night...

Speaking to The Sun, Liam said: "He’s just a super happy, chill baby...

"We’re super blessed that he just chills out and since he was eight weeks, he’s been sleeping 11 hours.”

He also revealed that he'd love to have more children with Cheryl, adding: “Bear is the best creation I’ve ever made so I welcome the idea completely. But, when? I don’t really know.

“I’m about to do an album and tour for a bit so we need some time before we think about baby No2, but we’ve got time so that’s OK."
