Katie Price breaks down talking about her mum’s illness: “It might be my last Christmas with her”

Katie Price emotionally broke down in tears on Loose Women today [December 12] after the show started discussing Keith Chegwin's death.

The TV presenter sadly passed away at 60-years-old following his battle with a lung condition. The nation was shocked because Keith and his family kept his illness private.

On Loose Women, it came to light that the TV star reached out to Katie Price and her family after he discovered that the reality stars mum Amy is battling from the same incurable disease he had.

While the Loose Women were discussing Keith's shocking death, Katie broke down in tears as she admitted she can't imagine "not seeing my mum grow old" after her former Celebrity Big Brother housemate has died from the same illness.

She explained: "IPA [Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis] isn’t well known and there should be more awareness because once you’re diagnosed, it’s too late.

"It’s an incurable lung disease – no one knows how you get it."

Katie went on to admit that although she and her mum previously appeared on the show and spoke at the illness, "it didn't really hit me then."

She then opened up about how shocking Keith's death has been to her, "Keith got in touch and we’d been speaking to him a lot and he was trying to help my mum.

"I knew all along about Keith but I never said it to anyone and I can’t believe that within six months he’s gone."

It then became clear that Katie was getting emotional after she explained: "The thing is my mum is going to die, I just don’t want her to die.

"She’s getting worse, she’s having to sell her house now because she can’t get up…"

After revealing that her mum had a cough for five years before catching a cold a few months ago, she admitted, "How can my mum die? It might be my last Christmas with her.

"She’s so healthy, never smoked, she works out all the time…I just want to raise awareness and I said I’d do the London marathon."

It only recently came to light that Katie's husband Kieran has 'cheated again' and after breaking down on TV Katie explained just how devastated she is about her mum's illness. After not seeing Amy for a few weeks, she explained to her mum: "I can’t bear seeing you knowing I’m not going to see you grow old.

"You won’t see Harvey’s 18th birthday, all the kids…how can my mum die?

"I love my mum so much…"

She then asked her fellow panelist if she can leave the TV studio and later on after the TV break Ruth Langsford explained: "[Katie] wanted to come on today and talk about Keith’s condition and raise awareness…

"Unfortunately as you saw she couldn’t cope talking about her mum so she’s gone off and we’ve got her a cup of tea and we are going to continue the show without her."

In September, shortly after Katie revealed her husband Kieran Hayler had been unfaithful again with their children's nanny, she confessed that her 64-year-old mum has been diagnosed with a terminal lung cancer.

Since the devastating news came to light the mum-of-five has thanked her fans for their support, she and her mum appeared on Loose Women to discuss the illness and Katie revealed she wants to donate one of her lungs to her mum.
