Jennifer Metcalfe’s baby Daye could have died due to complications with his umbilical chord.
The Hollyoaks actress welcomed her first child to the world two months ago with her boyfriend, former Geordie Shore star Greg Lake.
And she has now spoken of the difficulties she had during childbirth.
Speaking to television host Christine Bleakley on Lorraine, Jennifer said: “As far as the labour was concerned, I quite enjoyed it, it was a bit of a challenge.
“And the midwives were absolutely incredible when they rushed in at the end because his heart rate had dropped.
“The contractions came too soon and they were holding my hands telling me, ‘You’re the best pushed in the North East!’ They made me feel like Superwoman.
“Then when he came out, his chord was in a knot, and it was quite a tight knot, and basically they said it happens in one in 100 babies and it doesn’t end very nice; it can end in stillbirth.”
She went on to explain that the knot stopped the flow of food and oxygen to him.
Jennifer added: “Our little man defied the off and here he is.”
A representative for the star announced the birth of Daye in June.
A statement read: “We are delighted to announce that our client Jennifer Metcalfe and partner Greg Lake have welcomed a baby boy into the world.”
