Friends’ fans went into meltdown last week after Closer revealed Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer have finally acted on 25 years of harboured feelings for each other – enjoying a string of secret dates since reuniting for the sitcom’s reunion show in May. And after reportedly enjoying dinners out and sunset hikes, pals say David, 54, is now set to join Jen, 52, on holiday in Mexico later this month.
An insider tells Closer, “While it isn’t a full-blown relationship between the two of them yet, David and Jen are taking their time to work out their feelings. It’s not something that can be rushed into with all the years of friendship they have behind them, so they are exploring the chemistry they have.”
They add that Jen has invited David along to a trip away with friends, where they’ll get some alone time and have the chance to have some heart to hearts.
The source says, “Jen’s jetting to her favourite vacation spot in Cabo for a few days with a group of close friends and, after David made a cheeky hint about tagging along, she thought it would be the perfect opportunity to spend time with him and her close circle.
“They’ve rented a luxury villa and Jen and David are going to stay on a couple of days to have one-on-one time once the group leaves. Jen has admitted she’s a little nervous about it, but she’s also excited to have some uninterrupted alone time.”
In an interview earlier this month, Jen admitted David and his daughter Cleo, 10 – from his marriage to ex Zoe Buckman – had been to visit her at her home since the reunion.
And fans were ecstatic to learn the pair have been spending time together. One wrote, “This has to be the best celebrity news this century, they are made for each other.” Another commented, “Always thought they’d be a great pairing. Good luck to them,” while a third made reference to lyrics in the Friends soundtrack, writing, “Finally some good news, cause it hasn’t been my day, my week, my month or even my year!!”
But while David’s rep last week denied a relationship between the pair, sources insist they are heading that way but taking things slowly.
Popular culture expert Nick Ede explains there are good reasons they might not be confirming a new romance just yet. He says, “Jen and David would know that, if they were together, the world would be looking them. They won’t want to rush it – they have to make sure they do have a future together first because it will create a massive flux of interest.

During the Friends reunion show, host James Corden, said it was “inconceivable” there were no off-screen romances during their decade filming together, to which David responded, “I had a major crush on Jen,” who coyly replied, “It was reciprocated.”
David continued, “At some point we were both crushing hard on each other but it was like two ships passing. One of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary.”
The actor has remained largely single since his 2017 divorce, while twice-divorced Jen recently split from an unnamed TV producer, amid reports he felt intimidated by her close friendship with her first husband, Brad Pitt, 57.
