Jake Quickenden has revealed that he is "so excited to be a dad", after announcing that he is expecting a baby with his girlfriend Sophie Church.
In an interview with HELLO! magazine, Jake, 32, went on to explain that “it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I feel completely ready for it.”
Whilst this will be the reality star’s first child, Sophie is already a mum to her son Freddie from a previous relationship. Luckily, when the couple started dating in 2018, Jake was able to show off his natural parenting skills leaving Sophie, 27, with no worries about them bringing up a second child together.
Sophie said, “Jake will be such an amazing dad. Just seeing how he is with Freddie, I know that he will be brilliant and completely hands on.”
We’ve loved seeing Jake’s relationship with Freddie, 6, develop over the last few years. Jake’s Instagram is full of adorable pictures of them both, especially the ones from their recent holiday. Is it just us or has Jake got even fitter since he started posting them?

It seems that Jake’s relationship with Freddie was a key factor in him wanting his own child. He said, “He’s like my best mate. I met him when he was four, but I don’t say that I’m his dad because I’m not and he’s already got a really great dad. He’s got me used to being around kids and it will be so nice to have my own child, too.”
Jake and Sophie’s happy news comes after the couple unfortunately suffered a devastating miscarriage last year when Sophie was six weeks pregnant.

Sophie admitted, “Even though I was only six weeks pregnant it really hit me hard. With this pregnancy we still carry that worry, so it was nice to have the scan and know that everything is OK.
“We had been trying for a year and a half and I was doing ovulation tests and everything and Jake said ‘Stop putting pressure on us, it will happen when it’s meant to happen.’ But when you really want something it’s so hard not to feel disappointed every month.”
Luckily this pregnancy seems to be going smoothly so far although Jake did reveal that he’s "excited for everything, apart from the nappies." We can’t say we blame him to be honest.
