Congratulations are in order for Jennifer and Greg Lake who are expecting a baby
Jennifer Metcalfe and her long term partner Greg Lake are due to have their first child together later this year.
The Hollyoaks star - who onscreen plays the feisty Mercedes McQueen - and the former Geordie Shore star have been together for over four years.
A friend of the Channel 4 star has admitted it's going to be an "exciting" year for the actress. They confirmed the news and told The Sun: "Jen and Greg are delighted.
"They have told their family and friends, who are chuffed too. Obviously after her difficult time filming her last pregnancy scenes on Hollyoaks this is a breath of fresh air for Jen."

In 2015 Jennifer was involved in a heartbreaking stillbirth storyline where her son Gabriel pass away. At the time the 34-year-old actress spoke about filming the tough scenes: "It was really hard to do and challenging as an actress. Filming it, I got that lump in my throat and that was it.
"By the end of it all, I was a mess. I was just sat there sobbing.
"When it came to playing it on set I did minimal rehearsals because I didn’t want to wear out the true meaning of the words. The scripts were written so brilliantly that didn’t have to dig deep to find that level of emotion.
"The words were all there on the page. I broke down every time," she told the Daily Star.
Jennifer and the former Geordie Shore star Greg have been together since January 2013. Last year Greg opened up about their long distance relationship and admitted it works for them: "It keeps it fresh and exciting and we never argue.
"I love everything about her. We laugh together – and she's not bad looking either," he told OK! magazine.
The couple also admitted they would like to have children in the future. Greg admitted he wants two children: "A boy and a girl would be nice. I've got two nephews and I love spending time with them."
Jen added: "We both know it's something we want in our lives when the time is right."
Congratulations to the happy couple!
Jennifer isn't the only Hollyoaks actress expecting her first child as it was recently confirmed that her onscreen cousin – Chelsee Healey – is having a baby.
