Whether it’s her famous dad Michael Owen, her relationship with Luca Bish or her amazing style, it’s fair to say that Gemma Owen is one of this year’s most talked about Love Island contestants – so much so that viewers even began calling the show ‘Gemma Island’ at the start of the series.

Although she’s the youngest of this year’s cast at the age of 19, Gemma has been praised for being one of the mature ones in the villa for staying out of the drama and offering words of wisdom to her fellow Islanders.

However, dumped Casa Amor bombshells Jack Keating, Sam Agbiji and George Tasker have revealed a different side to Gemma that hasn’t been shown onscreen.

We recently caught up with Jack, Sam, George and fellow bombshell Jazmine Nichol for Closer’s Love Island Secrets and the boys all namedropped the international dressage rider when asked which Islander surprised them the most.

“I would say Gemma,” Sam said.

“She’s actually funny. When you go in there, you’re like, ‘wow, you got jokes’.”

Jack added, “She seems like she just puts that face on on camera but when you do catch her off camera, she’s cracking jokes, taking the piss out of herself, stuff like that.”

“On camera, you don’t see every side to her as easy. You really need to meet her to fully get to know her and see her funny side,” George explained.

“After meeting her your opinion changes. Her humour’s so funny, she’s really really nice. She comes across a bit blunt but that’s just her and she laughs about it. That surprised me.”

The boys spilled even more tea when Jack – the son of Boyzone singer Ronan Keating – opened up about mealtimes in the villa, which aren’t shown onscreen.

He said, “You never see people have dinner or lunch on the show and before going in I always wondered how and when do you eat?

“You actually get catering for lunch and the lads and the girls sit separately at the time so there’s no villa chat. It was really hard."
