After Dermot quit the ITV singing competition in 2015 to be replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack, the newly reinstated X Factor presenter has now been dealt another setback.

Dermot’s new cookery show Live At The Trattoria, has now been scrapped by ITV after just one episode.

The pilot saw the 42 year old joined by Gino D’Acampo in an Italian restaurant, which was believed to be a primetime live show, much like TFI.

However, the ITV bosses are believed to have said that Dermot would not do the programme justice because of his return to The X Factor, according to The Daily Star.

"Pilot shows get filmed all the time and some never get commissioned,” a source told them.

"Producers have realised you can’t take any risks with the presenter of the show."

The series was set to feature Gino cooking and giving culinary tips to celebrity guests, airing on a Friday night.

Dermot has already filmed an advert for the next series of The X Factor and said he’s “excited” to be hosting the live Saturday night show again.

“The show is naturally very close to my heart, after having hosted it for 8 years. I'm really looking forward to it, and excited to be back,” Dermot said, according to the ITV website.
