It seems as if the prayers of X Factor fans have finally been answered.
Yup, Dermot O’Leary has been confirmed to make his big comeback later this year.
Speaking about his decision to return to his role as host of the popular singing show, Dermot said: "There is nothing more exciting than hosting live TV on a Saturday night.
“The show is naturally very close to my heart, after having hosted it for eight years.
"I'm excited to be back."
He added that he is "very flattered to be asked back" and is "currently dusting off my dancing shoes".
Dermot left The X Factor after “eight wonderful years” and was replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack.
However the duo sparked something of a backlash with fans, with audience figures falling by well over one million after they took on the job.
Things finally came to a head when Olly accidentally announced the deadlock results for the Monica Michael and Anton Stephans sing-off BEFORE being handed the top secret envelope.
It is thought that this was the main reason behind Olly and Caroline’s decision to leave the show, which was announced in February - less than a week after Nick Grimshaw announced he would not be returning as a judge.
Regardless of all the changes to his show, Simon Cowell definitely seems pleased to have Dermot back on board.
He tweeted: "Dermot's back, hooray! And so is his dancing! Welcome home, Dermot."
A source added to The Mirror: “Simon made it clear he missed Dermot like the fans, it makes sense for everyone for him to return and the show is now in safe hands.
"Dermot makes the live shows look easy.”
