Coleen Rooney: ‘I can’t take any more of these lies’

Fuming Coleen Rooney considers a showdown with Helen Wood after she makes sordid claims in her new book

She was forced to endure yet more explosive claims about her husband Wayne Rooney from former escort Helen Wood last week after the release of her tell-all book A Man’s World.

And insiders say Coleen Rooney – who is directly referenced in the book – is furious Helen, 32, is continuing to capitalise on Wayne’s name and wants to confront her. Days after the revelations, Coleen was spotted soaking up the sun on holiday – as pals claim she needed a change of scenery.

In the book, Helen – who made headlines in 2010 when she claimed to have bedded the footballer in a threesome with call-girl pal Jenny Thompson – alleges that Wayne "regularly saw" an escort who would "pose as a cleaner" to sneak into his house.

She also makes new claims about other betrayals, writing, "A few friends who I worked with over the years have slept with him [Wayne], allegedly."

Additional reports in the press – prior to the book’s publication – claimed Helen had written how Wayne "sh---ed loads of girls, friends of mine," and, "He was even seeing one of my friends, a dental nurse, and it was near enough an affair." But Helen later denied this when interviewed by Closer.

An insider says, "Coleen is sick of Helen’s ‘dirty little lies’. She’s not upset, she’s just angry and at times furious.

"She’s told Wayne she can’t stand the fact she’s still dragging their family’s name through the mud after so many years – she can’t take any more of these cheating claims. She flew out on holiday to take her mind off everything; she needed the distraction."

The pair have had to endure a number of scandals throughout their relationship. In 2004, he admitted to visiting massage parlours and sleeping with prostitutes, after he was accused of bedding prostitutes Charlotte Glover, then 21, and Gina McCarrick, then 37.

Following Wayne’s arrest for drink-driving on a boozy night out with single mum Laura Simpson in 2017, Coleen, 33, referred to the accusations of infidelity surrounding Wayne in a Facebook post, admitting she feared her marriage was over and that he’d made "silly and selfish mistakes".

As Closer previously reported, Coleen has been contemplating writing her own tell-all book to silence Helen’s claims – but now pals say she is considering confronting her.

The insider adds, "Coleen doesn’t want to constantly be dreading more of these silly stories coming out. She still wants to write her book, and she’s wrestling with the idea of speaking to Helen with her lawyers present.

"Coleen’s mostly worried her sons will be able to read about it when they’re older."

Helen has cashed-in on her claims against Wayne, 33, for years – winning Big Brother in 2014, as well as a newspaper column and TV appearances. Just three months ago, she claimed Wayne started crying after showing her Coleen’s baby scan of their first son Kai, following the alleged threesome. Jenny, 30, later labelled Helen a "lying b---h”, calling her book "as factual as Harry Potter".

And insiders add that Coleen, 33 – who before her holiday had returned to the UK with their four boys, while Wayne stays in America for his football career – regrets not stepping in sooner. The insider adds, "She wishes she’d had the confidence to confront Helen before, but she thought keeping silent would stop it. It hasn’t – and she’s not prepared to let Helen carry on like this."
