After almost a year of living in the US, pals say Coleen Rooney is missing home and growing tired of constant criticism
They moved to America for a fresh start last August after Wayne Rooney signed a reported three-and-half-year contract to play for the Major League Soccer team DC United.
But according to pals, Coleen, 33, has become increasingly homesick over recent months without her close friends and family around her, as she takes care of their boys: Kai, nine, Klay, six, three-year-old Kit, and one-year-old baby Cass.
And insiders tell Closer that Coleen has been left feeling even more torn after work on their brand new £20million mega-mansion back home in Cheshire nears completion.
A source says, “Coleen and Wayne have been dreaming about this project for years, and now that it’s almost finished, it’s making her want to get back and make their house a home. There’s so much work to be done and it’s hard for Coleen to be so far away. But she knows she made a promise to support Wayne and to relocate as a family."

The couple started building their six-bedroom dream home in early 2017. It now boasts a wine cellar, stables, two fishing lakes and an orangery. However, the pair faced humiliating taunts on social media last week when some users compared the design of their new home to a Morrisons supermarket, something that led Coleen to hit back by tweeting, “A lot of insides are riddled with jealously!! Such a sad thing.”
But pals say that despite Coleen’s eagerness to return to the UK, she’s torn over whether to ask Wayne to consider an earlier retirement over fears he could revert to his troubled ways without a strict routine.
It’s no secret that Wayne has struggled with gambling, alcohol and partying with other women in the past. He was also exposed in 2004 for visiting a brothel ten times and cheating on Coleen with prostitutes.
Most recently, he was reprimanded in February after a boozing session in Florida, where he was caught leaving a bar with a waitress. And earlier this month, former escort Helen Wood defended her decision to open up about her affair with the footballer in her latest book.
The source adds, “Although Coleen would love to move back to the UK, she also knows that the discipline Wayne puts himself under for his team is good for him. Coleen is worried that without football, Wayne would feel lost. She feels really unsure about what is the right thing to do for their future."

Meanwhile, Coleen was forced to hit back at critics last week after they blasted her for sharing a photo of her young sons glued to their iPads. One user wrote online, “Spend time with them, actually play with them you lazy oaf”, while another wrote, “Disgusting, especially giving an iPad to the one in the buggy.”
But Coleen hit back on Twitter, writing, “yes my children have and use iPads!!!… They come in handy sometimes and can be very educational.”
