Yoga socks are both stylish and practical; wear them and you can focus more on your flow without sliding all over the place. Yoga requires balance and that can be hard to master in some poses, so socks with grip can give you the confidence you need without going wobbly.

Socks are also a hygienic option too, protecting your tootsies from any bacteria that might be lurking in a sweaty corner of the gym. Ugh. They will also keep your feet warm which you’ll welcome come winter when the floor is cold.

Those are the sensible reasons to buy a pair of yoga socks but let’s get on to the fun bit – they come in some pretty cool designs and colours. Some are ‘toeless’ giving you the perfect excuse for a pedi (Vanessa Hudgens was snapped in a pair complete with cherry red toenails), others are more like gloves for your feet allowing for more flexibility.

Time to get a grip – here is our deep dive into some of our favourite yoga socks:

Adidas Yoga Socks

Adidas is a trusted brand that can trace its roots back to the 1920s and have been the choice of athletes for decades. Favoured by celebrities including Kylie Jenner (who collaborated with them in 2018), Adidas makes kit that appeals to everyone no matter what sport they do. These yoga socks are comfortable, breathable and have a dotted grip tread to keep you steady. The strap sits over the arch of your foot keeps them from slipping off during your session and even if you're not a yoga expert, they certainly help you look and feel the part.

Want to add some bling to your workout? We can't promise you your hot PT will propose with a big rock but we can help you get some top socks that will give you something to focus on when you're in downward dog. This glitter mesh design is available in nine colourways but we love the nude best – it flatters the feet and makes you feel graceful like a ballerina. Each pair comes with a mesh bag that you can keep in your kit bag for an impromptu lunchtime yoga session.

Lululemon Secret Socks, 3-pack

This pack contains three packs of socks so if you're really dedicated to your workout and don't want to keep wearing and washing the same socks, these are your best bet. The design is simple and comes in pastel shades so if you prefer your look to be more understated, you'll love these. Lady Gaga, Jennifer Garner and Rita Ora all wear this brand so you'll be in some starry company when you slip your feet into these.

Tucketts yoga socks6 of 7

Tucketts yoga socks

These have to be some of our favourite yoga socks with some cute, stylish designs that keep your toes free and make movement easy. The moisture-wicking material keeps sweaty feet at bay and even after washing, the grips remain, well...grippy. Tucketts only makes socks so you can be sure that the brand has spent a lot of time and energy making the best socks money can buy. Founder Paola Shah wanted to create a brand that encourages peace and harmony and works with a factory in South Africa that protects its workers, helps communities and aims to be as sustainable as possible. The packaging used is carefully considered, made from sugar cane fibre – innovative indeed.

Non-Slip Yoga Toe Socks - mottled grey

**Tried and tested review:**Committing to doing a daily yoga routine is tough, but it's even more difficult in the warmer seasons. Slipping and sliding is not fun while you're trying to hold a half-moon pose. However, these non-slip yoga toe socks from Decathlon ground you even when it's hot outside. Not only was the grip great for form and position, but it was also good for hiding my toes. I have wide feet, which I hate getting out in public - so the option to cover them up made me feel less conscious and able to concentrate on my class.

What are yoga socks used for?

We’re totally on board with not slipping over while attempting the Bakasana – the crane pose. These socks will improve your grip and ensure you remain grounded. Here are some more yoga sock benefits:

  1. It will protect your feet from any unwanted dust or dirt on the floor.
  1. Keeps your toes warm during winter.
  1. They're great for anyone who doesn’t like their feet on show, especially if you’re attending a yoga class.

How to wash yoga socks?

First things first, we’re forever losing our socks in the washing machine and never finding them again. If you’re taking the time to do all this research and then splurging on a new pair of yoga socks, take the time to keep them as a pair.

All the socks on this list will have a different set of instructions when it comes to washing – make sure to check the label for the fabric care before use. Top tip: if you don't follow these instructions you may end up shrinking the socks.
