M&S ballet pumps

Ballet flats have continued to edge their way into being one of the coolest shoes in 2025, with sightings all over the 'gram and popping up at this year's Fashion Week(s). And while there's no denying they look great, some of us are still recovering from the ballet pumps' peak of 2004. Cue cropped leggings, belts over longline tops, and ankle backs being ripped to shreds by these bad boys. For that reason, I've been dodging the ballet pumps' return - until now.

Bringing the same vibes as the crystal-embellished Alaïa ballet flat from 2024 but much more wearable and subdued, the M&S Collection Studded Buckle Flat Ballet Pumps, £39.50, have drawn all the praise for not only their style, but their comfort too. Sign us up.

The M&S ballet pump, available in black, red and white, has all the tropes of a seriously trendy shoe; a subtle square toe, dainty buckle and stud details. But what it also has is an Insolia Flex sole designed to improve 'the natural rotational movement of the ball of the foot' to make walking so much more comfortable. And, they even have some stretch for those with wider feet.

While the Alaïa ballet pumps are generally regarded as being comfy too, they are £920. We'll stick with M&S.

One happy customer said, 'until now I have never been successful with M&S shoes. Well these are a winner so comfy and I have quite a wide foot. Able to wear indoors at the moment then should be a winner come the spring. Very pleased indeed. I had been looking at the ME+EM ones which are very similar 😊'

Another said, 'Love these shoes - have been my party shoes of the season. They go with everything and are instantly comfortable! Had endless compliments from women of all ages. Going to get a red pair!'

Thankfully, despite their popularity, they're still very much in stock in all sizes (it's a miracle) so we'd recommend shopping now before everyone catches on.
