When it comes to beauty, the word of the people is pure gold. That's why, when something appears on our radar that has reviewers going wild, we've just got to check it out.

That's what happened when we spotted SKINKISSED, a face serum available on Amazon, with thousands of five-star reviews. Is it too good to be true? We decided to put it to the test.

Dubbed 'confidence in a bottle', SKINKISSED has been hailed as a bit of a miracle product for those suffering with acne, redness or general unevenness.

The brand worked closely alongside dermatologists to develop innovative, natural formulas, bringing out a cruelty-free, vegan and non-comedogenic product - meaning it won't block your pores. It features vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, both of which can help those with problematic skin.

Vitamin C is great for treating acne scars as it increases the production of collagen, and while hyaluronic acid doesn't directly help to clear acne, it's a key ingredient to draw moisture into the skin, treating dryness.

So, what happened when we tried it out?

Skin type:

Oily/combination skin. Some redness, large pores. I don't generally have an issue with acne, but luckily (eye roll) just before this product arrived, I'd welcomed a few new friends on my face. Must be all the lockdown gins...

Review:

After receiving the serum, the first thing that impressed me was the packaging. There's something about high quality packaging that fills you with confidence, isn't there? It looks great - very Instagrammable, if you're into that sort of thing.

As per the instructions, I applied a couple of drops after cleansing my face in the morning and at night, before applying my normal day/night moisturiser. The serum doesn't really have a smell, is quite thick but it absorbs easily and doesn't leave you with any sticky residue.

I've been using it every day for over two weeks, and what surprised me the most is how quickly the spots I had on my face cleared up. They aren't totally gone - my skin scars quite easily so there is still some redness - but rather than sitting with spots for maybe 4-5 days, it was literally a day and a half until they were unnoticeable/practically gone.

I've also noticed that my skin has more of a glow to it and my pores seem smoother, which has made going make-up free a lot easier. I haven't seen a huge change with any fine lines as of yet, but my skin generally feels bouncier and more hydrated.

For the price of it, it's definitely something I'd add into my arsenal long-term. I love that it's cruelty-free, doesn't make my skin more oily and I like the changes I've seen so far, so I'm going to stick to it.
