Dry brushing your body may seem like an unusual concept, however, this method of exfoliation has been used for centuries and is having a bit of a comeback. Brushing your body will do more for you than any moisturiser. Dry brushing removes dead skin cells on your skin leaving you with a soft and toned finish.
If you are looking for a way to tone up your body or just seeking smooth skin then you should consider adding dry brushing to your weekly routine.
Why is body brushing good for your skin?
Dry body brushing gently massages and exfoliates your skin and leaves softer and smoother to the touch. It removes dead skin cells, helps to stimulate skin microcirculation and is proven to reduce cellulite and dimples.
By using the brush for a couple of minutes a day, it will help to promote your lymph, which in turn helps your body metabolise toxins more efficiently. It also discourages fluid retention and cellulite and softens and tones your skin.
How to use a body brush
You can dry brush your skin in the morning before you shower or whenever on dry skin. Brush from the soles of your feet in gentle, sweeping, upward movements all the way up to your body including your hands and neck.
It is best to dry brush no more than one to two times per week. After you are done wash your brush with baby shampoo at least twice a month to get rid of all of that dead skin residue. If you have very sensitive skin, try dry brushing once every couple of weeks for the best results.
How to choose the best dry body brush for you
Body brushes can be made of all sorts of materials such as wood and synthetic or natural bristles made from plant fibres. You can choose from a brush with a long handle to help reach areas like the back or behind your legs. You can also find round shape brushes without a handle which can be easier to grip.
