One mum's emotional conversation with her husband helped her to see how amazing her body is, especially after pregnancy

The first few months after birth are some of the most magical moments in a parent's life.

You're getting to know this brand new person that you created yourself, whilst re-learning who you are as a person now that you're responsible for another human.

But one thing mums in particular struggle with after pregnancy is how their bodies have changed.

Of course our bodies get bigger - it's just the natural way of life. But it can be hard to come to terms with it, especially with all the pressures put on new mums to "snap back" into shape.

One mum from Sydney, Australia, really struggled with this.

Laura Mazza, the mum behind blog Mum on the Run, posted about a conversation she had with her husband about her own body worries one night.

The mum-of-two was particularly concerned that her husband wouldn't fancy her anymore, and said to him: "This isn't the body you fell in love with."

She added in the post: "The body he fell in love with was toned, it had muscles, there were no stretch marks on my belly, none on my boobs, no gut from muscle separation.

"The body he fell in love with fit into tight jeans, could walk into a shop and grab any size and walk out, knowing it fit."

The shocking change is something that felt strange and alien to Laura, and she wrote: "This body now couldn't shop at those stores, and mostly wears leggings."

She highlighted that women literally sacrifice their bodies to bring children into the world, but men do not: "His body stayed the same, but mine changed in every way. It isn't fair."

She wrote that she stood crying in front of him one day, feeling particularly sorry for herself, and said to him: "This isn't the body you fell in love with."

Whilst many men might not know what to say in that situation, her husband came up trumps. He told her exactly what she needed to hear.

He responded: "You're right. It isn't the body I fell in love with."

Bear with him...

"Instead it's a body that grew our children, it fed our children, it comforted our children, it made life.

"Your body is the one I fall in love with every day. I didn't know what love was until I saw this body and found out all it could do, so thank you."

Laura finished the emotional post by advising women everywhere to love themselves: "Do not be ashamed of what you have, or what your mum body looks like. There's plenty of time to give up cake in the future, for now, enjoy the moments you have, and enjoy the fact that you have made something that is worth every stretch mark and every dimple.

"If you needed a reminder, this is it, this body you have now, it's worth every bit of love and more."

Her words resonated with women around the globe - with many men tagging their partners in it to help express how they felt.

One woman wrote: "It's not the body that you fall in love with. It's the heart and soul you fall in love with," and another added: "Just what I needed to read. Thank you!"

But one man's comment stood out: "Didn't fall in love with my wife's body. Her body isn't the thing that puts up with crap or strives everytime she has to get up for a midnight feed.

"It's not her body that makes her an amazing mother, wife and high school teacher. It's not her body that pushes me to be the best man I can be. It's not her body that gets me over the line when I am losing my mind after a mental day home with the kids."
