Kayla Oxenham, 23, was charged with abusing her two children - slamming their heads into the wall and branding them with a stick so she could 'identify them.'

It is claimed that Kayla branded her children by using a lighter to heat the end of the stick before pressing it against their bodies.

Her 7-year-old daughter told investigators that her mother also branded them so they could have ice cream.

After branding her daughters on the arm, the young woman then allegedly said she 'forgot how much [she] loved fire.'

Alarm bells began to ring in March when Florida department of children and families received reports of abuse from daycare workers, who had picked up on scabs on the young girls' bodies.

After an investigation, Kayla was arrested and charged with child abuse.

However when initially questioned by police over the abuse, Kayla denied it.

Kayla worked as a medical assistant before her arrest. She is currently out of jail on bond.

Reports say that Kayla is married and works as a medical assistant.
