Reporter Colin Brazier was reporting live from the scene of the MH17 flight wreckage in East Ukraine, when he came across various pieces of luggage.

He was then seen rummaging through one suitcase, picking up a child's flask and a pair of keys, before stammering, "We really shouldn't be doing this, I suppose".

The report received massive backlash, with Ofcom recording 110 complaints about the reporter's actions, which have fuelled angry responses on social media.

A spokeswoman for Sky News said: "Today whilst presenting from the site of the MH17 air crash Colin Brazier reflected on the human tragedy of the event and showed audiences the content of one of the victim's bags.

Colin immediately recognised that this was inappropriate and said so on air. Both Colin and Sky News apologise profusely for any offence caused".

A spokesman said: "These [complaints] are being assessed. A decision has not been made yet as to whether there will be an investiation".

Colin Brazier has since been reporting, however Sky News has refused to say whether disciplinary action would be taken against the veteran reporter.

The incident comes amidst growing anger over the way the tragedy has been treated, with reports claiming the site has been ravaged and looted by pro-Russian rebels and terrorist death-hunters who have been stealing cash, jewellery and credit cards.
