Katie Hopkins: ‘School children should be weighed every day – and parents should be named and shamed’

Katie Hopkins, 39, has suggested schools publicly weigh children - and name and shame the parents of overweight pupils

Katie Hopkins has, once again, led an attack on childhood obesity - and has upset more than a few people in the process.

Taking to Twitter, she said: "Wollaston wants primary school kids weighed every year. About time.

"I suggest a public weigh in at the school gate, naming & shaming parents"

And she found plenty of support amongst her Twitter followers.

One said: "I blame @Number10gov & the education system! Heathy diet & nutrition should be a core subject taught in schools! [sic]"

Another added: "Truth hurts some people could not agree more [sic]"

However, despite people backing Katie's proposed new weigh-in scheme, many were adamant that it would encourage children to develop eating disorders.

Twitter user Indiana said: "Obesity numbers plummet while eating disorders sky rocket. Good idea Katie well done. [sic]"

And another sensibly added: "Don't see the point, better to ban sift drinks and sweets, teach nutrition to kids + parents and promote PE classes more. [sic]"

However it seems as if the parents of overweight children were not the only people left upset by Katie Hopkins' Twitter feed.

She also posted an offensive message to the Islamic community, writing: "Following incitement to violence from the new leader of Muslims worldwide here's today's cake to help break the fast. [sic]"

Katie added an image of a cake, shaped like a machine gun, to her post.

Her post sparked outrage, with one person responding: "Your tweets regarding Muslims and Ramadan are totally out of order [sic]."

Another added: "Being rude and disrespectfull to a religion and its followers. She is a grown women,who should know better. [sic]"
