Katie Hopkins: ‘Food bank users are like terminal cancer patients’

Katie Hopkins has slammed people who are forced to use food banks to feed themselves.

Branding the individuals as being ‘like terminal cancer patients,’ Hopkins claimed that people who use the service are irresponsible with their money, and choose to have Sky TV over food.

The 39-year-old asserted that these people even trade food parcels for ‘drinks, fags and drugs’ on the black market.

Writing for The Huffington Post, Katie said: ‘The massive growth in these food banks is not because more people are hungry. It is largely because we are feeding the dirty habits of people perfectly happy to live a life on the take.

‘People are playing the system because it is there to be had.’

And, as ever, Katie remained unmoved by the plight of hungry Britons, writing: ‘Unsurprisingly, my eyes are dry as they were at my mother-in-laws funeral.’

The controversial columnist added that a recent BBC documentary about food banks showed that many people lied to procure food bank vouchers, with one man saying it was his son’s birthday to make sure he got one.
