According to the research, in total Brits will spend more than £19 billion on presents, buying 1.1 billion presents for 462 million people, with the average Brit buying 22 different gifts for nine people, spending almost £379 in total.

WOWZA.

Who knew we had it in us?!

In other news, our greedy guts nation will eat a total of 308 million slices of turkey, with the average adult scoffing down TWO Christmas dinners over the festive period.

Along with our turkey slices, we'll also choke down 411 million sprouts, washed down with 205 million glasses of champagne and followed by 205 million slices of Christmas cake and pudding.

Not forgetting another British Christmas tradition – 154 million crackers will be pulled across the country this Christmas, which also means that more than 154 million cheesy cracker jokes will be told.

But we'll selflessly travel 5.6 billion miles to spend Christmas with our loved ones, seeing a total of 257 million friends and family members.

Almost one in 10 people will travel to at least two different countries to see those we hold dear over the festive season.

But we're not going to be handing out Christmas kisses willy nilly - we'll only be puckering up to just one person under the mistletoe.

Interestingly, our mistletoe tradition is only popular here in the UK and with our cousins in the US.

And in households across the UK, a total of 205 million Christmas movies will be watched and 462 million Christmas songs will be listened to.
