Mum-of-two Louise Smith from Scotland passed away after receiving a cervical cancer diagnosis just months after giving birth
A mum-of-two has passed away after being diagnosed with cervical cancer only months after giving birth to her son.
Louise Smith, 24, gave birth to her second son Stephen 11 weeks premature in July 2015.
Only a few months later, she was given the devastating diagnosis of cervical cancer.
Last Wednesday, she lost her nine-month battle with the disease, passing away peacefully surrounded by her friends and family.
Louise, whose other son, Cole, was just five-years-old, spoke to the Hamilton Advertiser last year.
She urged other women to go and get checked out if they had any concerns at all: "If you have any single doubt in your mind, then get checked because even though you think, 'It won't be me', there is always a chance that it could be."
She added: "If speaking about my experience helps just one person catch cancer early, or just gives them more information about it, then I will be happy.
"I wouldn't have been able to get through it without my wonderful mum. She helped me with the boys and just kept me going through the toughest of times."

Louise's mum, Marie, paid tribute to the medical staff who took care of her daughter on The Daily Record: "I would just like to thank all the people who were there for Louise.
"All the great nurses and district nurses, especially those who cared for her at the end. I would also like to thank all her friends she made at the Beatson who were going through this journey with her and understood her situation."
Friends of Louise wrote tributes to her on Facebook. Her best friend Jennifer Dolan wrote: "I will forever cherish the memories we made and will be forever grateful for the time we spent together.
"I was privileged to call you one of my best friends, you brought such joy and light to everybody’s life you were a part of."
Leann Leask wrote: "Rest in paradise Lou. You were such an inspiration to everyone you knew and an amazing mummy to your two gorgeous boys and always will be. Fly high with the angels beautiful, gone but never forgotten."
