Jadis Argiope, who now lives as a woman, explained on TLC programme Self Surgery that the sex change operation almost ended in disaster after she attempted to remove the testicles she was born with.

Argiope came close to severing an artery as she cut away at her body.

‘It was almost like a bomb, where you don’t know where to snip,’ she explained. “And if you do it too wrong or too early you end up bleeding to death.’

Explaining her decision to take such drastic action, she said: ‘I needed to have my testicles out of my body.’

‘I knew I would never be ale to afford an operation performed by a real surgeon, and so I would have to take matters into my own hand.’

Jadis explained she felt her testicles would continued to ‘poison’ her body if she didn’t cut them off.

‘It was like a demon, a monster,’ she said.

However, after botching the procedure herself, Jadis endured a 30-hour operation to rectify the damage, and is now seeking a professional surgeon who will finish the job.

‘My hope is that in the not too distant future society will be more sensitive to transgender women so they won’t have to do the drastic things I had to do.’
