How to keep towels soft

There are few things worse than starting the day trying to dry yourself off with a crusty, hard towel.

So, to live a life that Mrs Hinch would be proud of, we asked a cleaning expert 'just how do you achieve fluffy and soft towels?'

Resident cleaning expert Susan Seabert at health and lifestyle brand Gearhungry breaks down a few top tips to keeping your towels extra fluffy.

"I can’t state this enough’ says Susan ‘don’t use too much fabric conditioner – it builds up on the towel and causes it to become stiff."

"The same with radiator drying - invest in a clothes horse and keep your beautiful towels well away from heat when drying."

It turns out your kitchen cupboards may be home to the perfect DIY solution.

Susan reveals, "A really great tip to maintain the softness is to use a cup of white vinegar instead of softener to remove the soap built up in the towel (half a cup of baking soda also loosens the figures of the towel)."

"Finally, treat your towel with a bit more care than your clothes when washing, as it goes through a lot day to day. When washing, make sure that you don’t overload the machine – give the towel a chance to breathe."

Got all that? Good. Here's some brilliant towels to test your new skills on...
