Bridezilla tells bridesmaids to help pay for £7.5K wedding dress

Well, what would you say?

We all know attending a wedding is expensive, let alone if you're gifted the honour of being a bridesmaid…

But this is something else.

In a jaw-dropping bridezilla tale, one bridesmaid has revealed how the bride-to-be demanded a little (lot) more than the usual duties...

Say what?!

Writing over at Mamamia.com, one woman - who remained anonymous but referred to herself as 'Hayley'- details how her feelings evolved from "overjoyed" at being asked to be in friend Caroline's wedding into "utter despair."

Yikes…

She wrote:

"Having been a bridesmaid once in the past, I thought this would be a piece of cake, especially seeing as I was one of seven bridesmaids."

Spoiler: she was very, VERY wrong.

She explained how first the bride-to-be's requests were pretty routine, asking for input and opinion on things like hair styles, table decorations and dress colours.

So far, so good.

But then in the midst of one busy work day, she received the following email:

"'Hey Hayley, How’s it going? I need some cake-maker suggestions by COB today please, Jase and I really want to get a wriggle on with this and need the contact details, price brackets, flavours and an idea of how prestigious the vendor is – in a table would be great. Excel is probably best please. Thanks!'”

Unsurprisingly, the demanding nature of the message didn't sit well with the friend, let alone the lack of consideration that she has a full time job, and can't simple hop off to create an Excel spreadsheet…

The bridesmaid continued: "Surely it’d be OK if I got the information to her over the weekend? I wanted to be a good bridesmaid but what was she going to do with wedding cake information on a Friday evening?

"I decided to hedge my bets and replied with my plan to have the info to her the following day, apologising and saying that it was a busy day. Of course she’d be okay with that, wouldn’t she?"

Not quite, actually. She revealed that the response from the Caroline went along the lines of:

“'Thanks for this, would’ve been really helpful to have it yesterday when specified but I appreciate it.'”

No consideration of the fact that Hayley had cancelled all weekend plans to help out her pal.

Letting the bride off (excusing her behaviour by putting it down to bridal stress) she continued on with her wedding duties, spending weekend after weekend shopping for dresses.

And after finally settling on the bridesmaid dresses - which all seven ladies had to fork £400 of their OWN money on - the bride finally fell in love with a wedding dress for herself.

Only one problem; it costs a whopping £7,500.

Despite the hefty hit to her bank account, Hayley wrote that Caroline went ahead with the purchase. But it seems it was a decision she came to regret…

In an email titled 'Bridesmaid dress contribution,' the certified Bridezilla asked each of her friend to put in over £100 towards the expensive gown.

The bridesmaid wrote:

"The latest bridal update was a long email outlining how she and Jase were hugely over their bridal budget now that she’d splurged on the dress. That it was “totally fine if you can’t” but she would really love if we could “pitch in” around $150 each towards her “dream dress”.

"That it’d mean so very much to her and would mean that as she walked down the aisle, she’d be wearing something we’d all had a part in."

We are in shock, and understandably, Hayley's reaction was one more on anger:

"I nearly threw my phone across the room, such was the rage that consumed me," saying that she hasn't replied to message, reconsidering not only her part in the wedding party, but their friendship altogether.

Wow.
