There’s no point denying it; weddings are VERY expensive.

From the dress to the venue, the cars to the bridesmaid dresses, there’s a lot of elements that make up your big day - and they all cost money.

And don’t even get us started on the open bar!

But it doesn’t have to be that way, you know.

Darren Williams from PromotionalCodes.org.uk explains: “Having the wedding of your dreams doesn’t necessarily mean you have to re-mortgage your house.

“There are ways you can still get what you’ve always wanted for a cheaper price without compromising on quality.

“Planning ahead and spotting the shortcuts are the best ways to cut down the huge costs.

“Don’t be afraid to ask for help either, you’d be surprised at the amount of hidden talent in your family and friends. Plus it is much nicer having them contribute to your big day than a stranger.”

Here are the site’s top ways to save money on your big day…

6) BUDGET WEDDING CAKE TIP

Average cost: £300

Budget cost: £100

Instead of shelling out on a cake from a top end bakery, why not ask a family friend to do it for you?

If you are about to fork out for a pricey band to keep you guests entertained, have a rethink and see what quirky entertainment you can come up with.
