Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly has been slammed by fans, after she made a 'bizarre' joke about stars Mollie King and AJ Pritchard on last night's show.

The dance partners have set tongues wagging with their mesmerising chemistry over the last few months and the pair were even spotted kissing backstage!

There is something about dead romantic about doing the Rumba on a Saturday night, with the entire nation watching in their pajamas at home. No there is.

The 48-year-old TV host added to the rumours, by addressing the 'elephant in the room'.

Co-host Claudia Winkleman said: 'Now I think we’re all agreed it’s time to talk about the elephant in the room.'

Tess replied: 'What, you mean are Mollie and AJ a couple or not?'

After an elephant noise in the studio, Claudia added: ‘No, that elephant in the room. I’ll get him.’

Viewers were left LIVID after Tess made everything 'awkward' for poor Mollie and AJ. Couldn't she have been more, er, discreet?! You are on live telly, Tess!

One viewer tweeted: “What the f*** was that Tess Daley? Talk about making it awkward for poor Mollie & AJ such s*** hosting! #Strictly.”

Another wrote: “Why is Tess so insistent on pushing this Mollie and AJ rumour? So awkward #Strictly.

Apart from holding their gaze for a second to long after a performance, Mollie, 30 and AJ, 23 have kept rather quiet about their 'romance'.

A source told The Sun, the pair are definitely a thing and have been spotted snogging backstage...

'They have been seen kissing, canoodling and even snogging while training. It’s still very early days and they are not officially dating or in a relationship, but there’s a real chemistry and attraction between them.

'Everyone is talking about it backstage and they are desperate for them to become a couple.'
