Behind all the glitz and glam of Strictly Come Dancing, there’s also been plenty of drama over the years. From Strictly curse-induced affairs to bitter backstage feuds, there’s certainly never a dull moment behind-the-scenes.
Following the announcement of the 15 celeb contestants taking part in this year’s competition, one star has opened up about a potential “rivalry” with one of their competitors and let’s just say we’ll be keeping a close eye on these two.
Wildlife cameraman and TV presenter Hamza Yassin will be taking to the dancefloor alongside his Countryfile co-star Helen Skelton and he’s opened up about what it’s like to compete against one of his pals.
When asked if there’s any competition between him and Helen, Hamza said, “The beauty about this group is that we are all in it together.
“We're all having the same feelings and we’re all one big rolling WhatsApp group and we’re just constantly talking like, ‘Has anyone got, you know, a make-up wipe or something along those lines?’ and then, ‘Oh, I’m in the bath having an ice bath. You tell everybody, ‘I need a bit of ice’.
“So, competition? No. It’s probably healthy rivalry. But we’re all in it to have a good time.”
It seems Helen’s not feeling competitive either as she added, “I don’t think anyone feels the competition. You never believe that until you’re in it.
“When you watch it you think, 'They don’t like each other that much’ and then you’re like, ‘Oh, they do!’”
Helen couldn’t help but sing Hamza’s praises as she gushed, “I think Hamza is one of those people who put on earth to remind other people how to behave. He’s such a nice man.”
