When did Strictly Come Dancing 2022 start?
Strictly began filming the pre-recorded launch episode on 7 September, however, following the Queen's death the show was pushed back to Saturday 24 September.
Who won Strictly Come Dancing 2022?
Strictly fans were over the moon when Hamza Yassin and his dance partner Jowita Przystal won the show. Sharing a photo of himself and Jowita lifting the glitterball, he wrote, "I am still trying to comprehend what happen last night.
"Let me start by thanking my dance partner @jowitaprzystal. As I said yesterday you are an angel disguised as a human being, a ray of sunshine! Thank you for your trust and guidance throughout this incredible journey. You shone a light for me that got me through some tough weeks and you have been by my side every step of the way. You will go on to do great things in your life. It was my pleasure to be your student. I will forever be grateful for how you have changed my life."
After giving his thanks to Strictly, the judges and the viewers he added, "And finally I would like to thank all of my fellow Strictly 2022 classmates.
"You are ALL winners! I am thankful to have had the chance to get to know you wonderful people. This is not the end but the beginning of a lifetime of friendships, dinners and celebrations. From the bottom of my heart thank you very much. Pigeon-toed Hamza. Xxx".
Who were the judges on Strictly Come Dancing 2022?
Over the past few years the judging panel saw a serious shake up with head judge Lenn Goodman being replaced by Shirley Ballas in 2017 and Motsi Mabuse (sister of professional dancer Oti Mabuse) replacing ballet icon Dame Darcey Bussell for the 2019 show.
In 2022, long-running judge Bruno Tonioli confirmed he wouldn't be returning to the show after missing the year before due to the pandemic.
Former professional dancer Anton Du Beke took over from Bruno as a permanent judge on the panel, after Covid restrictions meant that Bruno couldn't be in the UK for a second year in a row.
Anton wasn't a complete novice, though. He's regularly filled in for missing judges in past series. Speaking about stepping away from his role as a professional dancer, which he's been doing since the very first series, he said, "Traditionally the judges don’t get involved in the group numbers unless it's sort of like a Halloween theme or something like that.
"I would be hugely disappointed if I wasn’t able to do something. Maybe if somebody comes in and does a turn or song or something, I could grab one of the girls and we can have a bit of a dance.
"I'd love that, this is the thing I’m going to miss the most, and I know all the pros are getting into the studio now…and I’m already feeling a little bit…bereft of that."
When was the Strictly Come Dancing final?
The Strictly 2022 final took place on 17 December and fans saw Hamza, Molly Rainford, Fleur East and Helen Skelton battle it out for the glitterball.
What is the Strictly Curse?
Sorry, where have you been?
The Strictly Curse - ie, the not-uncommon phenomenon of otherwise stable couples crumbling when one party signs up to Strictly and gets on a little TOO well with their partner - has possibly been a factor in the downfall of LOADS of couples, including Stacey Dooley and her long term boyfriend Sam Tucknott, and comedian Seann Walsh and his girlfriend Rebecca Humphries in 2018.
Katya and her husband Neil Jones, also a professional dancer on the show, subsequently divorced.
Following the disastrous year, former pro Brendan Cole - who romanced partner Natasha Kaplinsky following their 2004 coupling – said, "It’s intense. Think about it. If you go to work with somebody every single day – hands on – and you’re working towards the same goal and you’ve got chemistry and this incredible experience that everyone loves to talk about, it’s only natural it’s going to happen occasionally.
“I’ve probably said more than enough.”
