It was one of the most iconic/hilarious/cringe-worthy TV shows back in the good 'old days and now Saturday night's are set to become nostalgic once again because Stars In Their Eyes is 'RETURNING' this year.

It's reported ITV have decided to bring the show back following Simon Cowell's decision to rest The X Factor for a year after dwindling ratings.

A TV source told The Sun, “This show is a huge deal for ITV — it’s their offering to take on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in the ratings this autumn.

“There was a huge gap to fill after they found out The X Factor wouldn’t be back and this series seems like the perfect solution.

“It’s a new take on Stars In Their Eyes. Members of the public will get dolled up and sing their idols’ songs on stage, just like the old format."

It's said the show will fill the void for when The X Factor normally airs, around August to December.

Decisions to rest the ITV talent show for a year were made several weeks ago, with a source telling The Sun, “Simon wants to really think through the show and how to reinvigorate it for the future.

“Although The X Factor is contracted for one more series, ITV totally understand the rationale behind the idea of resting it this year and want to give Simon and the team the time to do what they feel is right.”
