Piers Morgan is reportedly being lined up for a shock comeback to the Britain’s Got Talent judges’ panel, 10 years after he originally quit the show.

It’s been claimed that the Good Morning Britain host, who was one of three original judges next to Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell, has been approached by ITV bosses who are looking to shake up the show in order to keep it “relevant”.

Piers could take the place of his rival David Walliams, who’s contract is set to expire next year.

“Britain’s Got Talent is one of the few Saturday night shows which continues to shine and stay relevant. But all shows need refreshing, and Piers will certainly do that,” a a BGT insider told The Sun.

“He has been approached by two senior execs and, for his part, has said he would do it if the terms are right.

“He will give the show back its edge and provide those brilliant water cooler moments. He will revitalise the series.”

Piers’ Britain’s Got Talent return could mean the end of David Walliams’ stint as a judge as the two famously don’t get on, with the Little Britain star reportedly threatening to quit the show earlier this year if Piers was brought in to replace Simon Cowell after he broke his back.

It seems the feeling is mutual too as the 55-year-old journalist allegedly refused to work with David and called him an “insufferable twerp”.

This year’s series on Britain’s Got Talent was hit by a record-breaking number of complaints after dance troupe Diversity performed a routine in honour of the Black Lives Matter movement.

ITV later released a statement in support of the Ashley Banjo-fronted group after over 23,000 viewers submitted complaints to Ofcom.

A spokesperson said, "Britain's Got Talent has always been an inclusive show, which showcases diversity and supports strong storytelling in all forms and ITV stands behind the decision to broadcast Diversity's performance on BGT.

"Ashley and the group are a great example of the talent, creativity and diversity of modern Britain and their performance was an authentic, heartfelt response to many of the issues and events which have affected society in 2020."
