We truly hope third time is a charm for TOWIE romancer Pete Wicks (although it is technically fourth if we count the virtual session he did in the Covid era), but we do fear that we hope in vain.
As everyone's favourite Essex charmer tries his hand at Celebs Go Dating once again, we have to wonder, "Why does Pete keep doing this to himself?"
Well, on the latest episode of Staying Relevant, his podcast with BFF Sam Thompson, Pete admitted there is more to his trips to the dating agency than just looking for true love.
(Spoiler alert: it's not to find another golden retriever best friend like he did with Sammy boy.)
The reality TV duo were playing voice notes and reading messages that their listeners had sent in to the podcast as Sam and Pete discussed what they had done recently to ensure that they were "staying relevant". Get it?
One listener made a joke about Pete going on Celebs Go Dating AGAIN to which Pete responded, "You are absolutely right that probably is a staying relevant moment.”
Cue Sam confirming there was no question about the relevancy of that act, “It’s not probably. It is.”
Pete laughed along but then added, “But it’s also a pay my bills moment.”
Oh, we see how it is Pete. Anna Williamson, Paul Carrick Brunson and the Celebs Go Dating team are trying to find you the love of your life and you just want some extra cash. The absolute cheek of it.
Pete also confessed, when he was chatting to Closer recently, that he goes on the show, "Mostly because I do it for the free therapy - I need a lot of it."
Pete delivered that line with a hefty dose of sarcasm, but if we're being honest, that's a pretty good reason to go on the show - besides looking for love, obvs - looking after your mental health should always be a priority.
