She welcomed her second child with fiancé Ryan Thomas back in May – and opening up about her new life as a mum-of-two, former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh admits that she and Ryan get through the ups and downs of parenting together.
Lucy says, “We’re a great team! I’d say Ryan is like the ninja at changing nappies – it takes him about 30 seconds. Roman’s two, and he’s pretty much the boss already!”
Romance blossomed between Lucy, 31, and Ryan, 38, after they both appeared on Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls back in 2017. And after two years of dating, Ryan got down on one knee – with the loved-up pair now parents to son Roman, two, and daughter Lilah, six months.
And now, opening up about how they keep their relationship fresh, Lucy reveals, “We make sure we plan our diary so we can both fit in something for us, whether that’s Ryan popping to the gym or me meeting friends for a coffee. Having that little bit of time apart is really good. And also putting the effort in maybe every other Friday night to make sure we’ve got a babysitter booked and can go out for a meal or a lunch – something that’s just us. I think it’s really important to try to get that in.”
Lucy rose to fame on hit TV series The Only Way Is Essex, appearing on the show from 2010 until 2013. Since coming into the spotlight, she’s dated her co-stars Mario Falcone, 34, and Mark Wright, 35, as well as gymnast Louis Smith, 33.
But more than 10 years on, Lucy’s life has moved away from parties and showbiz events to being a mum. And reflecting on how motherhood has changed her, Lucy shares, “I have a slightly slower pace of life now. I’mat home a lot more with the kids, and it’s so important for me to make memories.”
Looking forward to the last few months of 2022, Lucy says she can’t wait for a planned ski trip – and is hoping to do it on a budget.
She laughs, “I really love the winter months – Christmas is coming! We’re going skiing this year, which I’m so excited about! But getting all the kit can be expensive. Renting them will help keep the cost down, as well as letting you be a bit more out there, so I’m renting everything this year."
