Love Island have vowed to be more diverse in casting contestants this year
Despite it being one of the most popular shows on TV, Love Island bosses have come under serious scrutiny over the past four years, due to the lack of diversity in the contestants they recruit
As the majority of contestants who land a place on the show have 'perfect' bodies, viewers have previously called for more 'realistic' body shapes, and it looks like Love Island bosses have been listening.
According to new reports, the show's producers have decided to include more 'curvier' female and male contestants, with applications being looked through as we speak.
A source for the show told the Daily Star Sunday, "With everything that’s happened, bosses know that the show will be under intense scrutiny this year so they’ve gone back to see what it is the viewers want, and if there’s anything they can do to make it better.
“One thing that keeps coming up is the lack of body shape diversity. Viewers want to see girls and boys with bodies they can relate to."

She explained, "If you had a son that was good at everything like you are - smart and intelligent - would you want them to come back with a girl that's done glamour modelling and stripping. "You'd want them to get with a girl who is smart; like a doctor or sensible Sally who works in an office...
