Contrary to popular belief, we don't really like rumours here at Closer Online. We like piping hot, truthful tea.
You probably think rumours are our stock and and trade but, in reality, we compare them to wildfires; they're vicious, spread fast and need dealing with. So, when it comes to the rumour that Love Island star Gemma Owens' mum, Louise Bonsall (who is married to football icon Michael Owen) has been approached by Real Housewives of Cheshire producers, when we saw an opportunity to extinguish that rumour, we did.
And by that, we mean we asked a Housewife directly over a cup of tea.
To be fair, it's not completely outside the realm of possibility, though. Gemma's mum lives in Chester, she's got a LOT of money and is somewhat used to life in the public eye - not to mention the fact that her daughter is now one of the biggest reality stars in the country, thanks to Love Island 2022.
So, when we go the opportunity to speak to newbie Housewife Katie Alex about the rumour, we were fully anticipating good news. Sadly, we didn't get it.
When asked if Gemma's mum was coming on the show any time soon and whether she knew Louise, Katie giggled and said, "No! No, I don't know Gemma's mum. I watch Love Island, I know who Gemma is, but I don't know her mum."
Regarding the rumour that producers have approached her, she added, "No idea. Not heard that one."
Fire extinguished, but we're left a little sad.
Katie is joining the RHOCheshire as the new Housewife for Series 15 and quite frankly, we think she's set to be our new telly obsession. She's also absolutely lovely; the kind of Housewife you can imagine standing with in the corner at a swanky party, shellshocked, while the others are taking off their earrings for battle. In short - she's a gem.
But this rumour about Louise speaking to RHOCheshire producers didn't come from nowhere. As they say, there's no smoke without fire...
MailOnline recently reported that ITV producers were "desperate" to sign up Gemma Owen's mum for the hit reality show.
A source told Mailonline: "Gemma's success and popularity on Love Island is driving this.
"Louise is a pretty private person so has always resisted any offers in the past to let the ITV cameras into her world.
"But Michael has a TV career and Gemma is about to start her own so it's left Louise considering making that step too. It would be a big coup for ITV and they are hoping they can pull it off."
The source added, "They work together and party together so ITV producers hope hooking Louise for Housewives of Cheshire will allow them to shine a spotlight into Gemma and dad Michael's world too."
Louise, nor RHOCheshire bosses have confirmed anything one way or the other, so for now, we guess the rumour will continue to burn.
We wonder what her tagline would be, though? Something like, I play the game beautifully, but take me to penalties and things will get ugly.
We don't even like football, but we're quite proud of that one.
The Real Housewives of Cheshire returns to ITVBe and ITV Hub at 9pm on Monday 22 August
