Louis Walsh signed up for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! but was talked out of it by Simon Cowell.
The X Factor judge returned to the ITV talent contest this year but originally had different career plans for 2016.
Music manager Louis was ready to jet to Australia and camp out in the jungle and had even signed a contract with telly bosses.
But Louis was convinced not to take part by record company boss Simon who offered him his X Factor job back after he left at the end of the 2014 series to be replaced by Nick Grimshaw in 2015.
During an appearance on Alan Carr’s 12 Stars of Christmas, Louis said: “I was offered the one in the jungle, I’m A Celebrity.’
“Simon Cowell rang me and said, ‘Don’t do it darling, don’t do it, I’ve got another plan for you.’ He was obviously giving me the gig back.”
While Louis was willing to sign up to I’m A Celeb, he previously said he would never appear on BBC ballroom dance contest Strictly Come Dancing.
He told BANG Showbiz: “I would never to Strictly Come Dancing. I can’t dance. You have to be really good.
“There’s no hiding on Strictly, you have to be really good. Those judges are tough, they’re cruel but they know what they’re talking about.
“It’s a very feel-good show, it’s a family show.”
