Following the BBC’s Katie Price: Harvey and Me documentary last night, fans have flocked to social media to slam footballer Dwight York for abandoning his son.

Harvey Price is Katie’s eldest son and suffers from multiple disabilities including autism, Prader Willi syndrome and epto-optic dysplasia, and Katie has raised him as a single mother when his dad walked out when he was a baby after he "couldn't accept" his disabilities.

The BBC documentary gave an intimate look at Harvey turning 18 and his move to residential college – and many were outraged at Dwight’s ‘abandonment’ of his son.

“Harvey’s dad Dwight needs to step up to his responsibilities,” fumed one. “Disgraceful that he abandoned him. I’m no fan of Katie Price, but she’s an amazing mother to that poor boy."

Another wrote, “His loss not Harvey's @KatiePrice has done amazing with him he's so polite and friendly a lovely young man. Dwight has missed out his fault."

Speaking of the “crisis point” at which Katie decided it was time for Harvey to go into full time care ahead of the documentary, Katie said, “He knew, because he was big and strong, that he'd smash a window and then the driver wouldn't have him in the car because he’d go and smash the windscreen of the car, or he’d start attacking the driver.

"He’d do that because he knew if he did that, he’d be at home with me because they wouldn’t take him to school."
