Jamelia is no stranger to walking down the aisle. The mum of four has been married twice before, but after both of those relationships failed to work out, she’s now on the hunt for a new man in her life who’s going to bring some fun!

The former Loose Woman, 43, is starring on the new series of Celebs Go Dating and is hoping the experts will be able to help her navigate this new world of singledom she hasn’t really experienced before. Here, Jamelia tells us more…

How has your experience been so far on the show?

My first date was so fun! I don’t know what happened to me in that [mixer] room. I turned into some sort of vixen. I worked the room and thought, “I’m going to get me a man!” I was in the zone. I felt so confident, like when I am on stage.

Did you get a date from the mixer?

We were allowed to pick one person, so I did pick someone and we went on a date. He was absolutely lovely. I am more excited by the idea of getting to date again with different people. It was fun. I am just looking forward to the next one.

What are you looking for?

No idea! I do have a type, but I have come on the show because I am open to meeting new people and different types of people, people who are outside of the box. I don’t know if I have had enough experiences in life for me to say I have got a type. I want to be able to say I’ve met a good cross-section of people. I’ve stayed with what I am comfortable with and with what I know. But this is the perfect way to be like, “Let’s try this, it is pick and mix”.

What’s your dating history?

My main issue is that I am such a mother and I love mothering everyone. If he is a fixer upper, I don’t mind. But now I am in a different state of mind like, “I am fixed. You come fixed as well”, and we will have fun.

Fun or wedding bells?

I am definitely not here to find a husband or settle down. But I want to have fun. I want to tap into that side of me that I haven’t actually tapped into.

Excited or nervous about the dive deep with the agents?

I’m not nervous at all. I am really looking forward to that side of things. I am 43, I’ve had two marriages and four children. I need all the help I can get. I am a huge fan of the show. So to have that advice is a huge blessing. I am looking forward to being grilled, being analysed and, ultimately, being helped.

Brand-new Celebs Go Dating returns to screens Monday 19 August, 9pm on E4. The all-new series will air Monday to Thursday on E4 for five weeks.
