When we look back at 2016, there's is one good thing we're going to remember: how harmless reality television is capable of lifting all our spirits.
Throw a few willing celebrities into a jungle, add a tonne of creepy crawlies, minus any huge scandals or explosive arguments and you've got a winning formula.
2016 hasn't been a good year, so bad in fact that we get a little nervous feeling in our tummy when we turn on the news, wondering what more the world can throw at us next. The EU referendum caused a huge divide in the UK, Great British Bake Off left the BBC, we've said farewell to so many iconic TV personalities, musicians, actors and influential figures, Donald Trump defied the odds and won the US presidential election, homelessness is at an all-time high and in France alone, 250 people have been killed by acts of terrorism.
Of course, many people would disagree that a mere TV show, fronted by Ant & Dec, could bring a positive message into our homes but we really think this year's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Here! has done wonders. We've smiled, we've laughed and we've cried happy tears.
Nearly 7.2 million people have tuned into ITV every night for the last three weeks to get their jungle fix – so here's why we think this year's camp proved to be the best ever:
**9.There was an eclectic mix of celebrities **
Maybe it was the fact that there was a supposed 'ban' on reality TV personalities. or maybe it was because producers were willing to splash the cash on big name celebrities like Carol Vorderman and Danny Baker. We've never seen a line-up as good as this year's. Ever.
Did you really think you'd be seeing up and coming comedian Joel Dommett dressed as a crab alongside former Chelsea footballer Wayne Bridge? Us neither.
8. No kick offs
Critics slammed this year's I'm A Celeb as 'dull', 'boring' and lacking in typical drama. Sure, everyone loves a reality show tiff, the whole reality show world normally thrives on arguments and disagreements – but this year's crop of campmates just didn't see the point.
They all got on like one big happy family and harmony was broken only a few times – mainly by Larry Lamb and Martin Roberts who just weren't feeling each other and were completely honest about it.
The fact that they didn't argue when they were tired, incredibly hungry and homesick just shows how much relationships can thrive when everyone just sticks together.
**7. So many laughs **
This year's I'm A Celeb was funny, really funny. And funnily enough we weren't laughing at them making absolute fools out of themselves (hello Gillian McKeith) – okay maybe sometimes we were – but we were laughing at Scarlett's epic one-liners or Adam's trial comedy gold.
**6. Every single person got stuck in **
Despite many of the campmates having different fears, every single celeb said yes to every single trial that was thrown their way. A first in the world of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!...
**5. There were so many positive messages **
From Scarlett's triumphant and incredibly body positive 'no, I don't want to wear a bikini, I can wear whatever I want' stance, to Sam Quek opening up about the fact that people and the media cared more about her doing a underwear shoot than they cared about her winning an Olympic gold medal in Rio 2016 - there were SO many positive vibes to come out of this year's camp. Compare it to rival reality show Celebrity Big Brother, where celebrities are often warned (or even kicked out) over their controversial behaviour.
Carol addressed the positivity in her exit interview: "All the youngsters, Scarlett, Jordan, Joel and Sam are the same age as my children. They sent really good messages out there to young people to be nice and to be kind, I just love being around fantastic young people.
And so did Larry: "Wayne [Bridge] is a wonderful dad," he said. "Jordan [Banjo] has been parented by extraordinary people. It’s made me realise how lucky I’ve been and how much more I’ve got to do."
4. There were no scandals
When celebrities take part in reality TV shows, a lot of past flames/acquaintances come out of the woodwork to try and make money out of the situations.
But this year, the only thing that has been 'scandalous' was Joel Dommett's sexy webcam situation – again something that he was almost too honest about.
**3. Ant & Dec proved to be seasoned pros **
Ant & Dec never fail to impress but this year they've been even better than usual – despite the fact that they were momentarily split up for the first time EVER to host individual segments.
From Ant's huge crush on EastEnders actor Larry Lamb, to Dec renaming Adam Thomas 'Mr Bushtucker Trial' just to get him through.
Ant's sexy new beard definitely helped as well.
**2. Extra Camp was a DELIGHT! **
With a new team at the helm; Vicky Pattison, Stacey Solomon, Chris Ramsey and Joe Swash - I'm A Celeb EXTRA camp kept us obsessives truly entertained.
Let's hope they're back next year, ey?
**1. They made A LOT of money for charity **
ITV has also joined forces with Make-A-Wish UK, who are the new beneficiary charity for the reality show, and confirmed that 15p from every phone vote will be donated to the charity.
Amazing work.
It’s been so emosh :'( :'( :'(.
