Tributes poured in for contestant Charlie Watkins who sadly died before his scenes on Take Me Out were aired.

His family confirmed that the 22-year-old had taken his own life and gave ITV permission to broadcast his previously filmed scenes with the show.

Charlie 'Chaz man' Watkins was one of the male contestants who had to pick from the flirty thirty somebody to accompany him to the isle of Fernando. Charlie had his heart settled on a date with Jo-Tara and the second installment of emotional scenes were showed last night.

Paddy McGuinness tweeted his condolences before last night's show and wrote, 'Hope you love tonight's @takemeoutuk especially Charlie's friends & family. We get to see a smashing lad enjoying himself on his date[sic]'

Viewers saw Charlie enjoying his date at a waterpark with Jo-Tara, where he even brought chocolate (from his job in a chocolate factory) for to surprise her with.

He touchingly revealed, 'By the time we got to cocktails I knew this would be a girl I’d see again and again.’

His family said in a statement: 'We have lost a very special young man who sadly never recovered from the tragic loss of his mother when he was only nine years old.'

‘Tragically this is another example of the mental health issues suffered by young people today as highlighted by the Heads Together campaign supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.’
