This Morning viewers praised her “brilliant” appearance on the ITV show, calling for her to be made “a permanent fixture” on the sofa, and now Cat Deeley exclusively tells Closer that, while there are no solid plans for her to replace Holly Willoughby, she’d be keen to make a reappearance.
The 47-year-old shares, “It was so much fun, but it was only really a one-off. I’m going to LA for six days soon and then I’ll have loads of promo for my new show in January, so we’ll have to see if anything more comes of it. It was great fun, but we don’t know what’s going to happen.”
As well as Craig Doyle, Cat teamed up with Rylan Clark for her This Morning hosting debut, and she was quick to gush about the Celebrity Gogglebox star. “I shouldn’t say this, but I’m in love with him!” she admits.
“It’s very rare to have such chemistry and such fun on a new job with a new person. He’s so smart as well – much smarter than people give him credit for. I’m such a fan.”
While becoming a presenter on This Morning could be a great career move for Cat, the star is already a household name in both the UK and the US – where she previously lived for 15 years with her husband, comedian Patrick Kielty, 52, and their two sons Milo, seven, and James, five, before returning to London two years ago.
Cat’s career began in 1998 when she began co-hosting SMTV Live alongside Ant and Dec, who she reunited with in 2020 when they hosted a special episode to celebrate the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here presenters’ 30-year career.
And now she says that she’s always up for working with the Geordie duo.
Cat - who was recently announced as Ella & Jo's UK Beauty Ambassador and calls their Glow-Up Enzyme Mask one of her favourite products - reveals, “It was so much fun doing the reunion a few years ago – I obviously love the chance to work with Ant and Dec. We were surprised by how emotional we got!”
Despite both Cat and her husband Patrick working as TV presenters, the pair live a relatively low-key life in North London, although Cat admits that she does most of the parenting.
“Whenever I leave the house, I’m sticking Post-it notes on everything,” she says.
“But when Patrick leaves for The Late Late Show, he can just leave. Women and mothers have all these extra little jobs that they have to do around the house.”
