Bradley Walsh has confirmed his brand new role on TV after months of speculation as the new companion on Doctor Who.

We literally can't wait for this!

Don't worry - as far as we can tell, Bradley will still carry on presenting The Chase.

PHEW.

Rumours of Bradley's new role began circulating a couple of months ago, but nothing was confirmed until late last night.

Bradley will play a character named Graham alongside two other brand new companions - Mandip Gill, who you may recognise as Phoebe Jackson from Hollyoaks, will star as Yasmin, and Tosin Cole, who has starred in EastEnders, will play Ryan.

Bradley, 57, says he's been a fan of Doctor Who for the past 50 years, and loved the First Doctor played by William Hartnell.

He said: "I remember watching William Hartnell as the first Doctor. Black and white made it very scary for a youngster like myself.

"I was petrified, but even though I'd watch most of it from behind the sofa through my fingers, I became a fan...

"Am I thrilled to be part of this whole ground breaking new dawn for the Doctor? Oh yes!"

We can't wait to see you either!

Mandip Gill added that she was "over the moon" to have landed the role, saying: "Certain roles seem unattainable and this is one of those, so much so I didn't believe it to be true for the first few weeks."

Tosin Cole, who also had a small role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, said that he was looking forward to "jumping in this Doctor Who universe".

After some fans of the show threw a tantrum upon learning that the Doctor would be played by a woman, everyone seems to have calmed down now - but show boss Chris Chibnall, who also worked on Broadchurch, hinted that it wouldn't be an easy ride for the new Doctor.

He said: The new Doctor is going to need new friends. We’re thrilled to welcome Mandip, Tosin and Bradley to the Doctor Who family."

Well WE couldn't be more excited for the new Doctor to begin flying throughout time and space!
