In many ways 2016 has been a weird, and pretty rubbish, year. But in the land of reality TV it's been pretty darn great.
From Honey G to Ed Balls on Strictly, here's our rundown of the best, and most shocking, reality TV moments from 2016…
1. “I say Honey, you say G!”
Love her or loathe her, Honey G is arguably the biggest reality star of 2016, after making it through to The X Factor's live shows.
In her debut television appearance, the aspiring rapper performed the Missy Elliot track Work It - much to the horror of Simon Cowell and many of us at home.
However, Simon excluded himself from the vote when deciding whether to put her through to the show’s Boot Camp, leaving the other judges to take her to the next stage of the competition.
And the rest, as they say, is history. Honey made it through to the live shows, hit headlines up and down the country, and ultimately won Simon round. She's now signed to his Syco record label.
2. “David’s dead!”
It didn’t take too long for reality television to reach ridiculous levels this year after Tiffany Pollard set foot in the Celebrity Big Brother house in January.
The American star made an unbelievable mistake when she was informed by fellow housemate Angie Bowie that her ex-husband David Bowie had passed away.
Tiffany thought Angie was referring to David Gest who was also taking part in the Channel 5 show.
She burst into tears, exclaiming: “David’s dead!”
Gest saw the funny side though, and named his tour after the incident once he left the house. However, in a tragic twist, David Gest did actually pass away soon after.
Yep, 2016 really has been a weird one...
3. The love story of Stephanie Davis and Jeremy McConnell
Former Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davis and Irish model Jeremy McConnell first set eyes on each other when they entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in January.
But little did we, or they, know what was to come.
The pair grew close in the house despite Stephanie having a boyfriend, Sam Reece, in the outside world.
Soon after leaving the house, it emerged Stephanie was pregnant with Jeremy’s baby, but sadly this wasn’t enough to keep the couple together.
Stephanie went on to fall out with Jeremy as he decided he wanted nothing to do with her during her pregnancy.
4. Gemma Collins made a NBF... and took on the dictionary
Gemma Collins certainly made her mark in the Celebrity Big Brother house in January after striking up an unlikely friendship with Kim Kardashian’s best friend Jonathan Cheban.
But that wasn’t her best moment - she randomly announced she might be pregnant in the house (she wasn’t) and she was given a Shetland pony to run around the garden with by producers.
However, after leaving the house, The Only Way Is Essex star appeared on Sky News to say that “the dictionary should be paying everyone in Essex some compensation” because of its definition of Essex girls.
Oxford Dictionaries state that an Essex girl is “a brash, materialistic young woman of a type supposedly found in Essex or surrounding areas in the south-east of England,” but Gemma insists they have “evolved”.
She added: “I’m a massive fan of the dictionary. You know, we should be promoting the dictionary because it is such an amazing historical British thing but, for them to write that about Essex girls, we are not happy!”
5. The Great British Bake Off goes into meltdown
The entire country went into meltdown when news broked that the Great British Bake Off would be moved from the BBC to Channel 4.
And the news just kept getting worse and worse.
To the horror of viewers, it emerged hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins would be leaving, as would Mary Berry, leaving only Paul Hollywood to move with the show.
Like, what's the point?
6. Ed Balls on Strictly Come Dancing
Former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls gave everyone some relief from the doom and gloom with his turn on Stricly Come Dancing, where he set the dancefloor on fire with his truly questionable moves.
But it was the politician’s Gangnam Style performance that really impressed people. We will literally never be able to unsee it.
7. Larry Lamb saves Scarlett Moffatt from drowning on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt was always going to be a hit on I’m A Celeb with her witty one-liners, but we didn’t expect to laugh so hard just seconds after she entered the jungle.
The television star and former EastEnders actor Larry Lamb were tasked with rowing out to a raft in the middle of a lake as part of their first challenge, but things didn’t go to plan for Scarlett as her canoe sank.
She did have a life jacket on to stop her from drowning but she was unable to make it back to shore because she can’t swim.
Luckily, Larry was on hand to help her out as he swam back out to the middle of the lake to drag her back to shore.
Phew!
8. Scarlett Moffatt wins I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Scarlett Moffatt was always secretly our I’m A Celebrity winner from day one, so we were delighted when she went on to win the series for real.
And it was heartwarming to see her reaction when the news was announced as she burst into tears of happiness and disbelief.
She was rewarded with a crown for being the new Queen of the Jungle and was handed a chicken kebab by hosts Ant and Dec. Pure class.
9. Megan McKenna’s rage
Megan McKenna showed she isn’t to be messed with after flying into a furious rage when she found herself having to clean up after her fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates.
Megan fled to the Diary Room to complain and ended up screaming at the camera which prompted bosses to send security guards in, in a bid to calm her down.
However, her outburst certainly ensured she had a lasting impression - it may have caught the eye of The Only Way Is Essex producers as she now appears on the show.
10. Love on The Jump
The Jump became known this year for its injured celebrities with gymnast Beth Tweddle fracturing her vertebrae and Made In Chelsea star Mark-Francis Vandelli ending up in a wheelchair.
But things weren’t all bad - from this year’s show came rumours that swimmer Rebecca Adlington and Superman actor Dean Cain were dating.
What a match!
11. A dog flies a plane
We never thought there would come a day when we’d see an actual dog fly a plane… but it happened in 2016.
Clever dog trainers taught apparently equally intelligent canines what to do behind the controls of an aircraft in Dogs Might Fly on Sky 1.
But what we really want to know is, who thought of this show in the first place?!
12. Celebrity Big Brother is scripted?!
Fans of Celebrity Big Brother were left aghast when they realised the reality show might actually be scripted.
Really dedicated viewers who were watching the live feed from the house saw the housemates go to bed on the final night with Big Brother bidding them farewell before the lights were turned off.
However, moments later, the lights were turned back on and a producer’s voice could be heard telling them what was going to happen next, as former EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood shouted: “Great take, guys!”
13. Sword swallowing on Britain’s Got Talent
Alexandr Magala terrified the judges with his hair-raising act on Britain’s Got Talent.
His insanely dangerous first audition saw him perform gymnastics as he swallowed a sword, much to the delight and horror of the judges.
14. Stephen Bear’s Celebrity Big Brother rant
Love Island star Stephen Bear didn’t make himself popular with his fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates by giving them a hard time, and he wasn’t a favourite with security either.
The reality contestant flew into a rage in the Diary Room, screaming at the camera, but very quickly calmed down and looked a little scared when a burly security guard entered the room.
15. The Great British Bake Off Jaffa Cake incident
Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood caused a bit of a stir when he decided to dunk a Jaffa Cake in his tea on the show.
Apparently this should NEVER happen and even McVities spoke out, with the company’s Brand Director Kerry Owens saying: “Only Brits could be so passionate about this issue, and they have spoken - Jaffa Cakes are not for dunking!
"As the experts of all things Jaffa Cakes (and dunking) we tend to agree - the sponge base just isn’t robust enough to hold up in a hot dunk.
"However, Paul is the nation’s expert of all things baking so maybe we’ll see him starting a new trend.”
