She put her name on the map on the British showbiz scene after marrying into the Beckham family in 2022.
And following reports that American billionairess Nicola Peltz, 28, is considering signing up for Strictly Come Dancing to further boost her UK profile, pals say it’s causing fresh friction with her mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham, 49, who’s a “huge fan” of the hit BBC show.
A source says, “Vic isn’t happy at all and with the dreaded ‘Strictly curse’, she’s incredibly worried about Nicola putting her and Brooklyn’s marriage at risk.
“While she knows they’re solid as a rock, having watched even the most seemingly strong couples fall apart, such as Louise and Jamie Redknapp, it’s understandably left her feeling very anxious, and as soon as she heard the news, she flung herself into mamma bear mode in her natural instinct to protect her eldest son.”
In March, Nicola shot-down rumours of a feud with the fashion mogul – aka Posh – which began when the actress chose rival designer Valentino to design her wedding dress.
Following the couple’s lavish Miami wedding, Nicola revealed how after initially vowing to design a bespoke frock for her future daughter-in-law, Posh backed-out – failing to even call her directly to break the news.
The Transformers actress – who recently directed independent film, Lola – added more fuel to the fire later that year when she stated, “No family is perfect” – reportedly leading a furious David, 48, to “read the riot act” to the newlyweds about airing their dirty laundry in public.
And despite the Beckham ladies appearing to have put their grievances behind them – spending time in the Bahamas over Christmas – pals say Nicola’s latest career ambitions have caused tensions to resurface.
The source says, “As soon as Posh heard of Nicola’s plan, she made her feelings clear and told her that taking part in such a big show could draw unnecessary attention to the family, which would affect Brand Beckham as a whole.
“Nicola’s feathers were ruffled as she felt that Posh was just thinking of the ramifications to her, rather than looking at the bigger picture.
“She insisted that doing Strictly would be a great way for British fans to get to know her and potentially lead to her and Brooklyn spending more time in England, as well as it being something she’d love to do. She assured Victoria that her marriage would always come first.”
And pals say the mum of four – who also shares sons Romeo, 21, Cruz, 18, and 12-year-old daughter Harper with David – has agreed to back off for the sake of Brooklyn, 24.
The source says, “There appears to be an underlying power battle going on between the pair, and their latest locking of horns left Brooklyn feeling torn and uncomfortable, which is the last thing Vic wants.
“Brooklyn urged his mum to take a step back and allow them to make their own decisions – insisting she should be proud of Nicola for even contemplating taking on such a huge challenge and wanting to integrate herself with the British public.
“Vic agreed that she would keep her mouth shut going forward and would support Nicola wholeheartedly, whatever she decides.”
