After what has been an incredible year for both Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith, it comes as no surprise that the two musicians led the way in this year’s BRIT Award nominations.

Both men are nominated for Best British Male, with Sam, 22, in the running for five awards in total and Ed, 23, up for four accolades.

Also recognised in the prestigious nominations list was former X Factor runner-up Ella Henderson.

Ella Henderson is nominated for Best Single and Best Female

The 19-year-old had a massive 2014, storming the charts with her no.1 hit, Ghost.

The awards ceremony will be held next month, and judging by the show’s history it’s set to be an evening of controversy and entertainment.
