There's a few residents from the past that are returning to the village this year

It's been confirmed by Hollyoaks bosses that Rory Finnigan, better known simply as Finn, is returning to the Oaks later on this year.

Finn's fun character first appeared in Hollyoaks back in 1997 but he left the village in 2002 because he wanted his life to go back to how it was before he moved to the Oaks - uncertain.

During his time in the village he became close friends with Tony Hutchinson before leaving the village with TV presenter Cat Deeley (who was making a brief cameo in the Channel 4 show).

He returned to the show in 2013 to attend Dom Reilly's wedding in Spain but ran into a bit of trouble with a gangster known as The White Man (who was played by EastEnders' Danny Dyer).

Now, it's been confirmed that James Redmond will reprise his role as Finn this Christmas and will stay in the village throughout the New Years.

Eek!

Hollyoaks' executive producer, Bryan Kirkwood, revealed to Digital Spy: "We'll be seeing a bit of James Redmond over Christmas and New Year.

"James will be coming and going as the much-loved Finn."

He went on to admit that bosses enjoy bringing back old cast members for the viewers, he explained: "We are so thrilled with where we are at the moment, with celebrating our heritage and bringing back legacy characters.

"Now that we've reached the ripe old age of 22, it's fantastic to be able to celebrate the loyalty of our audience.

"Some of the people who started watching us as teenagers are now mums themselves, who are maybe watching Hollyoaks with their own teenagers."

He added: "It's fantastic to have Luke and Mandy back in the show. We've got to strike the right balance.

We need to move forward with our new, brilliant cast while also having a healthy dose of nostalgia."

We couldn't agree more!

It was recently confirmed that Hollyoaks villain Mark Gibbs who raped Luke Morgan back in 2000 is also returning to the show this year.
